About the program

EAA Chapter 105 awards aviation training scholarships to young people in our community. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee, and every applicant hears back from us after their application is reviewed.

• Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed by the selection committee in batches.
• Applicants must prepare the application entirely themselves.
• Three recommendation letters from non-family adults are required.
• Applicants under 18 must include a signed parent or guardian permission letter.
• The program serves the greater Portland-Vancouver metro area; an in-person interview near Hillsboro is often part of the selection process.
• Payments for training activities are made directly to flight schools or instructors, based on itemized invoices submitted by the scholar.
• Applications are kept on file for up to one year; reapplying requires a fresh application package.
